Parent Involvement in the Curriculum
Just as each child is valued as an individual with differing interests, abilities, strengths and needs, parents are viewed similarly and have differing abilities, time, opportunity and motivation to contribute in various ways. Parents are invited to participate in the daily curriculum. The children enjoy the company of a friendly supportive adult, and your child will enjoy showing you all the things he/she can do. It's also a time to see your child in a group situation and to gain a clearer picture of a kindy day.
Spending time with Lukas at MPC gave me an opportunity to share in and be part of Lukas’s environment that has become so familiar to him, yet is still quite ‘undiscovered’ for me. I was able to respect, learn and share time with him in a completely new way – away from our homely routine and this time in ‘his space/group’ at kindy that he has belonged to since the beginning of the year.
It sure was a busy day! Being there and sharing everything the children were part of gave me a great insight and understanding of how much learning takes place in their day – pretty much in everything they’re doing.
It was a great way for me to see what the curriculum looks like in day to day life at kindy and also to encourage me to support this approach of learning at home. I loved watching and observing Lukas interact in his group. In the afternoon we shared many memories of our day! Sabine
The committee holds an open afternoon for all members of the family to come and visit. Family Fun Days in the local park are also a yearly highlight.
Teachers are keen to share information about your child through conversations and individual meetings. Group parent meetings and information nights are also held regularly.
